Mossy Green

My Inspiration:
Green! There is so much inspiration living in this moss. I love the idea of using green moss, fluffy ferns, or fragrant eucalyptus to deck out your tables in rustic elegance. Dressing your wedding party in mossy green, navy, and white will add a touch of understated sophistication to any rustic themed wedding. If your wedding ceremony is inside you can bring the outside energy in by placing moss, tall branches, and candles on both sides of the aisle. Green always adds natural vibes and a spark of life to any color palette.

Ceremony Backdrop

My Inspiration:
A backdrop can be an easy addition to dress up and personalize your ceremony decor. Although beautiful, you don't have to follow fabric draping and flowers wall trends if that's not your style. Be creative and make designing yours an adventure. You can tell your love story through the decorations you choose to use at your ceremony site. Consider painting and tying tree branches together for a natural or whimsical feel. Using found objects can make it personal and eco-friendly.

Cocktails and Seating

My Inspiration:
This bright and and lively display at a Flower Show in Philadelphia provides perfect incentive to talk about the thought of adding a themed and special seating area for guests to enjoy during cocktails or to escape to during the noisy reception activities. A decorative seating arrangement would also provide a wonderful backdrop for some Instagram worthy photos as well as posed wedding pictures.

Sing-Along

My Inspiration:
I know I am jumping out into a niche pool with this idea, but I just have to share it. This idea came to me while watching the Frozen Sing-Along Celebration in Disney World. If you and your fiance are both big Disney nerds (like I am) imagine a Disney sing-along during your dinner service or a Disney karaoke session during the last hour of your reception. Most DJs have the equipment to facilitate one or both ideas. Your guests would be getting something exciting to participate in and unique to you.

Theatrical Ceremony

My Inspiration:
Going to see a ballet may not be possible at this very moment but when it was it provided great inspiration to my thoughts on ceremonies. Why not rent an unusual space like a theater to host your wedding ceremony. It would give the guests something exciting to enjoy and in this world of social distancing it would provide you with plenty of seats and room between. You could serve individual bags of popcorn to each guest as they exit with directions to the reception.

Purple Pansies

My Inspiration:
These purple pansies are an inspiration in two ways. The colors and patterns on the face of each flower are delightful and provide so much color inspiration. Can you imagine your wedding party dressed in shades of purple or in floral patterned dresses carrying yellow and white flowers? A pansy flower is edible, so you could pull that same color scheme into your wedding cake by adding pansies to the cake or cupcakes too.

Giant Games

My Inspiration:
When I stumbled across this giant chess game on the outskirts of the Powerscourt Hotel Garden (a while back) it gave me some literal inspiration. Your guests will love to play giant versions of familiar and loved games from their childhood and now. There are plenty of online sources and rental companies that offer these types of games to jazz up your cocktail hour or outside reception.

Unique Shoes

My Inspiration:
These pretty cowgirl boots made me think they would be great for a country theme or rustic barn wedding. Think of all the unique shoes types you could explore for yourself and your wedding party. Although they make a great option, don't feel like you are stuck with formal shoes when there are a plethora of fun styles to choose from. We encourage you putting your own flair on details like this!

Hot Air Balloon

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
It's hard not to be inspired by a hot air balloon that shows up practically in your back yard. Can you imagine showing up to your wedding ceremony in one of these or taking off in one for some pretty incredible photos after your wedding ceremony? If you really wanted to show your guests a good time offering them hot air balloon rides throughout the evening would be thrilling to many.

Ring Bearer Box

My Inspiration:
The ring bearer has forever carried the real or fake rings of the couple getting married on a satin pillow. Here is an idea to shake up tradition and give you a memento to craft. Decorate a simple box with ribbon, fabric flowers, and bling to place your ring into and have the ring bearer carry. This is a far safer way to carry the rings and you can add your own custom flair to it. A similar box can be created for the flower girl to carry to hold her petal too. Add a ribbon loop to the top and hinges to make it even easier for little ones to carry.

Farm Favors

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
Sometimes inspiration sneaks up and slaps me in the weirdest ways. Why not offer your guests an exciting farmers market style set up to choose favors from!? Including a variety of fruits, veggies, and flowers would create a beautifully colorful space for guests to explore and give them access to some incredibly useful favors to take home. Paper or cotton monogramed bags could be provided to add to the excitement. You could also take this one set further by incorporating these items into your centerpieces and then encouraging guests to take the pieces home.

Tea Time

My Inspiration:
I attended a British style tea time and it inspired me share some thoughts. Hosting a tea party style bridal shower would provide both good new memory creation and a reminiscent experience harkening back to the days of being a little girl, putting on your mother's wedding gown, and pretending to get married. Another fun way to incorporate a tea party into wedding festivities would be to kick off your bachelorette party celebrations with a tea party followed by wine tasting and a night out at a comedy club. No matter what you do have a blast!

Carnival Games

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
If you and your fiancé met at a carnival or fair or just have a special love for attending them, I have an idea for you! Host carnival games at your wedding during cocktail hour. Games like balloon darts, ring toss, and goldfish ping pong will provide your guests with the type of fun they will never forget while awaiting dinner and dancing. Also, think of the extra interesting backdrops the games will provide for photo sessions.

Backyard Wedding

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
Are you having a back yard picnic style wedding at your house or parent's house? If you are you have freedom to do what you would like in regards to providing alcohol, although we do suggest event insurance in this scenario. Ask your guests to bring a bottle of wine or specialty beer that they would like to share. Create a sharing table full of ice filled galvanized buckets and coolers for them to place their shared wine and beer into. This is a great way to save money on alcohol and to encourage your guests to try something new. Consider offering smaller cocktail cups and plastic shot glasses, in the colors of your wedding, for people to try smaller portions before taking a whole cup of an item. Cheers!

Evergreen Winter Decor

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
Evergreens make me think of candle-lit romantic tables covered in rich jewel tones. I used natural wood pillar holders topped with battery operated flicker candles and small glass bowls filled with stones and moss to complete these wintery evergreen table runner tablescapes. Wood charger plates, glassware, battery operated fairy lights could also be added to tables to further finish the look.

Paper Flowers

www.dmweddings.com
My Inspiration:
After attending each flower show I always feel inspired. Surprisingly it wasn't the real flowers that had me inspired to share this time. These paper book page flowers mixed in with real flowers would be so much fun for a book loving bride or couple to incorporate into their wedding bouquets and boutonnieres. Another thought...Have guests sign the pages and then have the pages strategically made into flowers after your wedding so you can display them in your house.

Airplanes

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
Museums are always inspirational to me. The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum ignited whimsical thoughts about arriving in an prop plane or having one on site for photos at a wedding. This would be especially fun if either of the people in the couple were involved with these types of things for their job or had a particularly strong interest in them. Another thought that can to mind was using an airplane hanger as your wedding venue. That would certainly be unique and have your guests talking for quite some time afterwards!

Sticks and Branches

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
This glamorous stick and branch queen inspires me to use branches and sticks for centerpieces. Why not fill tall vases with braches you can find for free in nature to use as your centerpieces or spray paint sticks with glittery silver paint and hot glue them to boxes you fill with red roses?! There are just so many possibilities if you use your imagination!

Scarf It Up

My Inspiration:
During the cold months it's nice to have the comfort of a warm scarf. I stumbled across the ones pictured above in a quaint little shop along my travels. I thought almost immediately it would be nice to have bridesmaids wear the same color dress and give each a different color scarf to stay warm. It would make a nice gift, give warmth, and add some extra color to your wedding day.

Wintery Mix

My Inspiration:
This beautiful wintery scene ignites all sorts of ideas for a winter wedding. The ladies in your wedding party could wear lush imitation furs and the men won't ever complain about being too hot in their tuxes. Rich jewel tones for flowers and dresses would really make this time of year come alive in photos. Carolers could sing before your ceremony starts, sleigh rides would be blissful during cocktail hour, and hot chocolate could be served throughout the evening. There is a bit of magic in the winter season.

Soups Up

My Inspiration:
Who doesn't love a nice hot bowl of soup on a chilly day?! After making some cabbage and ham soup last week I thought to myself, this would be a happy addition to a winter wedding menu. You could serve mini grilled cheese and tomato soup during cocktail hour or start off your meal with some vegetable or Italian wedding soup. It would be a inexpensive addition your guests would enjoy.
