Christmas Tree Baubles

My Inspiration:
Christmas baubles! These baubles inspired me to think about creating some merry times for guests during a winter wedding. You could have Christmas tree decoration available in a bin for your guests to select their favorite and sign, as a guest book substitute. You could even take that idea to the next level by providing a tree for them to hang their baubles on after signing. Think of bringing these Christmas tree decorations out each year and reminding yourselves of the love you were surrounded by on such a special day. You could also hired a few singers to play the part of carolers as guests enter your ceremony or cocktail hour.

Winter Colors

My Inspiration:
Even an office space can inspire wedding thoughts. While designing a space for Ethan Allen I couldn't help but think how these neutral tone would also be beautiful used in a winter wedding. Think gray dresses with some glamorous bling for the bridesmaids and gray tuxes for the groomsmen. There could also be a pop or yellow or red added in the flowers to give the palette more excitement for such a joyous celebration. That same pop of color could be used in the creation of the centerpieces and the same gray used on the tables as overlays or floor length linens.

Bluegrass Band

My Inspiration:
While enjoying a bluegrass band at Ole Smoky Moonshine distillery in Tennessee I was inspired to share an idea with you. Hiring a bluegrass band for your cocktail hour or to play during your entire reception would certainly be a way to put your own personalized stamp on your wedding. Accompany the band with a bon-fire, smores, and small jars of moonshine, given as favors at the end of the night, would create quite the night to remember.

Gem Stones

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
The soft pastel colors of these gem stones give me thoughts of flower crowns and dreamy candles but also give me an idea for jazzing up your escort card table. Instead of just setting the paper escort cards out alone on a table you could pair them with a geode or gem stone. If you take it one step further the color of the stone could signify the type of meal your guests each ordered on their reply card so the wait staff can easily identify where specific meals go on each table. You could also place candles into  glass containers with small geodes, stones, and faux gem stones surrounding them on each table as centerpieces to pull the whole theme together.

Relaxed Bachelorette Party

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
If you're not feeling in love with traditional bachelorette party ideas and would like something a little more low key for you and your ladies to enjoy I have an idea. Try checking out a historical or artsy town close enough for a day or weekend trip. There will likely be many exciting things to schedule and encounter in a town that has a relaxed small town America feel over a big city with a high energy vibe. Pictured is scenic Gettysburg (overlooking the historic Devil's Den) and a great place to plan an chill adventure to. There are great restaurants and lodging, nightly ghost tours, historical sites to explore, and a quaint little town to keep you entertained all day with unique shopping experiences.

Color Strips

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
This small bird and birdhouse were created using color strips at a Sherwin Williams paint store. If you are having a hard time choosing your wedding colors consider going to a home improvement store to check out what colors work well together in the paint swatch aisle and maybe get some later inspiration for the new nest you and your soon to be husband will be creating too.

Everything Fall

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
Fall is such a season that provides all sorts of warm thoughts even though the temperatures are becoming cooler. Hay bails can be used for seating with blankets given as favors to guests. Hot cocoa can be served during cocktail hour with tasty treats like grilled cheese and tomato soup. Pumpkins and gourds of all shapes, sizes, and colors can be used in décor to make your guests feel at home and welcomed. Also, let's not forget the mums and the beautiful warm colors they can provide to wedding décor and personal flower arrangements. Cheers to a season with so much charm!

Windows Galore

My Inspiration:
There is no end to the inspiration The Louvre provides but one thought that struck me immediately was in regards to the windows on the ceilings through portions of the halls. These windows gave me instant thoughts of a wedding reception inside an atrium or historical building with stained glass. If you added string fairy lights or draped greenery it would make for an even more romantic ambiance.

Villanous Jewels

My Inspiration:
This eye palette has some seriously show stopping jewel and earth tones with all the glitter a glamorous soul could need. It inspires me to think darker for wedding color selections and apply them in more ways than just makeup. Picture navy table coverings with burgundy napkins and burgundy flowers with lots of dark colored greens in the centerpieces. Add some gold glitter to the greens in the centerpieces and maybe some gold chiavari chairs to pull the whole look together.

Feathers and Fluff

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
While in Belgium I visited the Atomium and an incredible surrealism art exhibition. This piece was particularly inspiring for wedding ideas. It made me think of dove releases and how romantic they can be at the end of an outdoor ceremony. It also made me think of something a bit unique. Bridesmaids could carry bouquets made of feathers and the bride's bouquet could also be made of feathers or add flowers to make it stand out a bit from the rest. The groomsmen could have feather boutonnieres instead of traditional flowers.

Coffee and Tea

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
Sometimes a simple but well executed meal can create some fabulous inspiration! If you are planning a wedding in cooler months consider hiring a professional barista to set up a coffee and tea station to serve some unique signature drinks to your guests that look and taste as special as your wedding day. If you are planning a wedding in warmer months consider a salad station with all sorts of different gourmet cold salads and breads for your guests to experience something new without straying from the traditional entrée offerings.

Guinness!

My Inspiration:
St. James Gate at Guinness brought me more inspiration for weddings than one might imagined it would. The rich gold and deep black with the contrasting white is a wonderfully regal color combination suitable for an upscale wedding. In addition, the idea of giving each guest their very own Guinness bottle as a favor to take home seems like a witty way to include a Guinness loving or Irish couple's interest into their wedding. Considering Guinness sells their beer in very attractive containers and often releases seasonal or throwback designs and flavors throughout each year it's a perfect way to add some personality to a wedding day.

Hay Rides

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
Inspiration can hit you at the oddest times. As I was recently watching a traditional small town tractor pull at a county fair an idea popped into my mind. Why not have tractors at a wedding!? Committing to a wedding theme means something different to each couple, but country and rustic themed wedding themes are indeed currently quite popular. If you are truly committing to a theme like that, consider offering tractor rides or hay rides pulled by a tractor to your guests as part of your cocktail hour or night time entertainment. It would be a fun and unique thing to incorporate into your wedding day and something guests would certainly talk about for years to come.

My Inspiration:
"I would like sunflowers and fall colors but want to feel like I'm in the library from Beauty and The Beast." Challenge accepted! Can you see the inspiration pulled together in these beautifully simple table designs? This wedding was an absolute joy to design such sweet and whimsical  centerpieces.

Rustic Glamour

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
I was inspired by my client's want for a rustic wedding with a touch of glam. My anticipation of a crisp fall day and the bridesmaids' raspberry dresses led me to incorporating vivid raspberry, deep red, warm orange, and white into the overall design. A barn filled with farm tables was the perfect venue to offer a rustic setting. The gold hints, crystal china, and chandeliers perfectly completed the glamorous ambience.

Moongate Romance

My Inspiration:
Moongates can be found all over Bermuda, which is where I found this one. Many gardens also feature them all over the world. Legend says, if newlyweds step through a moongate hand-in-hand, happiness will endure. Imagine creating your own moongate or large round wreath as the backdrop for your wedding ceremony. They add such an extra romantic touch to an already special moment.

Eiffel Tower Dessert

My Inspiration:
These divine desserts served up from inside the Eiffel tower made for perfect inspiration. Guests would absolutely love a dessert themed midnight buffet with a selection of your favorite desserts. Even if you both as a couple don't have a sweet tooth you could personalize the experience by adding savory treats like pretzels and spicy peanuts as well.

Delightful Brunch

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
This time my inspiration comes from an authentic Irish breakfast. While enjoying my breakfast in a sweet café near Killarney I got to thinking about alternative options for feeding your wedding guests. Brunch! If you aren't too keen on the idea of having a huge reception with all the formalities but also prefer to have something a bit more hardy than a cocktail party reception a brunch would be the perfect happy medium. It's a perfect way to treat your guests to something a bit different and enjoy a less formal and relaxed celebration.

St Maarten Favors

www.dmweddings.com
My Inspiration:
The shores of St Maarten can inspire lots of exciting ideas and thoughts. Of course the rich colors are inspiration for so many things all on there own. This part of a horse back riding trail made me think of giving mini cactus plants and succulents to guests as favors. Both are low maintenance to care for and plants add life and cheer to a home, so why not continue the spread of happiness after your special day.

Cheerful Sunflowers

My Inspiration:
Can you just picture each of your bridesmaids carrying a single sunflower down the aisle and you with an entire bouquet of them? It would be such a sweet and rather inexpensive way to include these beauties in your ceremony. Adding them to the tops of lanterns and filling the lanterns with green or yellow tulle would sprinkle a bit more of these cheerful flowers into your ceremony. If you are interested in more of an elaborate design, consider covering an arch in them with fabric swagged between or stringing the flower heads on fishing line to create an entire sunflower curtain.

Bermuda Sunshine

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
The calm beaches of Bermuda make me think of using pastel colors in all things wedding. Blush and watery blue tones for dresses and linens would give a nod to a beach lover's passion. A soft pink cake with light aqua or white design accents would be perfect for a summer wedding. Bermuda also sparks ideas for food. I'm thinking start with a beach style clam bake during cocktail hour. Follow that up with family style serving of a light salad, chicken chesapeake, lemon pepper haddock, and champagne marinated beef tips. End the night with an ice cream buffet.

Pure Water Lily

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
Water lilies are such romantic flowers and project such a pure and simple beauty. It may be impossible to include them in a bouquet but think of them in a gorgeous low centerpiece on your guest tables or a tub of them greeting guests as they look for their names on a seating chart. If you aren't having your wedding at a garden you can bring the garden to your wedding.

Fancy Fireworks

My Inspiration:
Fireworks! If you have ever been to Walt Disney World (not sponsored) and stayed in the Magic Kingdom to see the spectacular fireworks display and show at night you know how moving and uplifting they can be. Fireworks or sparklers at the end of a wedding can add a magical finishing touch to a love and excitement filled day.

Tropical Centerpiece

www.dmweddings.com
My Inspiration:
Tropical flowers can add such life and vibrancy to any celebration. This inspired me to create a full and leafy table garland with wooden pillar topped with candles scattered throughout it. Adding small potted orchids to each place setting can make a tablescape come to life. Imagine the warm glow mixing with these energizing colors.

The colors in this photo evoke such peaceful thoughts. This turtle was just cruising through these perfectly blue waters. The ombre vibes make me think of cake icing and how much fun the wave pattern would be with varying shades of blue.

Shells, Sand, and Sun

My Inspiration:
When I get free time away from planning a wedding or creating décor for a special event I enjoy drawing and painting. This little sketch made me think of some fun wedding ideas that would add a personal touch to an ocean or beach theme wedding. An entire bouquet made out of shells would definitely make a beautiful statement piece. Having guests write their names on shells and place them into a transparent container would be a unique guest book memento. Lining your aisle with large conch shells and candles would add a romantic stylized hint to your ceremony.

Bright and Beautiful

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
Limes completely inspired the creation of this centerpiece. Not only did I directly incorporate the limes but their brightness led me to choosing equally as bright flowers. The bedazzled orchids and hanging crystals played off the glass trumpet vase to pull it all together.

Glowing Centerpieces

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
The glass orbs hanging from the ceiling in twine nets are my inspiration this time. I love the idea of grouping three different sizes of orbs with a battery operated light inside of each as a centerpiece. You could surround the orbs with petals for a classy feel, add netting as the ones in the photo for a nautical look, or set them on books and moss for a more whimsical style.

Luxe Lavender

My Inspiration:
I was inspired to create this bridal suite at Rolling Meadows Clubhouse and Gardens, LLC by a simple lavender plant. The softness of the plant and subtle fragrance makes me think of a spa and relaxation. Barely there lavender, varying greys, and other neutral tones were accented with clean chrome accents. This room was created to provide a tranquil space for the bride and her wedding party to get ready before her special day. I just love creating something big from such tiny pieces of inspiration!

Bonjour!

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
The delicate look and smell of a French macaron could make almost anyone's mouth water. This stack has me envisioning not just a dessert table but a entirely French themed wedding with all sorts of delicious treats from that area of the world. Visualize white glove service delivering an elegant dinner surround by all the chandeliers, blush, and glitter of Versailles. End it all with dancing and an irresistible treat table filled with this like macaron, mini crème brulee, chocolate mousse, and lemon and lavender tarts.

Butterfly Kisses

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
Butterflies signify how growth and change can be a beautiful thing. This little orange and black charmer makes me picture a butterfly release during a wedding ceremony follow by a father/daughter dance to the tune of the song butterfly kisses later at the reception. The pink of the flowers and orange in the wings would be a cheerful and playful color combination to work into just about any spring or summer time wedding theme.

Tulips Upon Tulips

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
The tulips in Hershey Gardens (not sponsored) are absolute stunners, so of course they are a source of great inspiration. I could go on about how they would make beautiful centerpieces and bouquets, but let's think even further than that. Imagine tulip red lips on the bride or a crown of tulips and daisies in the flower girl's hair. An outline sketch of a tulip on your invitations would elevate a plain invitation to elegant. The are just so many options!

Gerbera Daisies

My Inspiration:
Sometimes inspiration comes from an unusual place. When I received a surprise gift in the mail I was instantly inspired by the adorable gerbera daisy and it's joyful pink color. They would be adorable in single bud vases across a head table or hanging in front of a fabric backdrop at your ceremony site. Picture single flowers like this being handed out by your flower girl or bridesmaids to your guests as sweet little surprise favors.

My Inspiration:
While visiting the flower show in Philly I fell in love with a flower display that was made to look like clothing pieces. The shoes you wear for your wedding don't have to be white. They can be crazy colors if that makes your heart happy. Show off your personality and style. Your guests will delight in a charming shoe reveal.

Sparrow Spirit

My Inspiration:
This happy little sparrow sparked my interest as it hopped from limb to limb on a small bush so it has found it's way here as inspiration. Sparrows symbolize joy, friendliness, confidence, dignity, productivity, creativity, and courage. These are all attributes most of us would like to see within our own relationships. My thought is; why not have sparrows featured in the theme of your wedding décor and invitations or even have a recording of sparrows playing during a relaxed part of your wedding day (ex. cocktail hour or dinner).

Wild Flowers and Butterflies

My Inspiration:
Wild flowers always provoke such whimsical and care free thoughts for me. Tiny wild flowers like these would be beautiful wrapped with lace in a sweet little nosegay bouquet for both bridesmaids and bride. The groomsmen and groom would also look dapper with a few fashioned into a simple boutonniere. A heavy sprinkling of wild flowers down the aisle would give your ceremony a sweetly romantic touch.

Spring Is On Its Way

My Inspiration:
I honestly couldn't decide what inspired me more; the pattern or the colors. I adore the bright magenta hues balanced with the aqua and grey shades. The pattern reminds me of happy little daisies and the coming of spring. These colors could be beautifully incorporated into a tablescape or even bridesmaids dresses.

All The Bubbly

www.dmweddings.com

My Inspiration:
These Veuve Clicquot (not sponsored) bottles not only bring joy with their delightful yellow labels and sophisticated green bottles, but inspired me to suggest hosting a champagne bar at your wedding. Imagine bringing the cheerful little bubbles, that champagne offers in every sip, to your guests during a tasting session amid your cocktail hour. Set up multiple tasting tables so your guests can spread and mingle throughout the room without crowding at one bar for drinks. Specialty drinks can be created and offered throughout your reception using the champagne tasted during cocktail hour to heighten and extend this luxurious experience.
